The Department of Social Care and Social Work is a successful academic community of students and staff committed to delivering high-quality teaching, an excellent student experience, and impactful research. We currently deliver courses to over 800 students and have ambitious plans for growth. Our teaching is highly innovative, and we are recognised both locally and regionally as leaders in Degree Apprenticeships - where we are award-winning. We are also renowned for the quality of our national delivery, which includes three Step Up to Social Work regional partnerships. All of our Social Work programmes have been approved with no conditions by Social Work England.

The Department has a strong track record of securing research council funding and maintains a growing portfolio of projects. Much of this research focuses on learning disabilities and autism, health inequalities, mental health, and child protection.
