Applications are invited from general surgery specialty trainees or those interested in applying into general surgery from Core training (or equivalent) with outstanding potential to develop into a clinical academic leader. This post will provide clinical training in general surgery, along with an excellent opportunity to develop a research portfolio. The post is part of the Scottish Clinical Research Excellence Development Scheme. It is available to candidates who already hold a National Training Number in the relevant specialty. The successful applicant will be expected to transfer to an East of Scotland Deanery NTN and will hold an honorary clinical appointment as a Specialty Trainee in general surgery.
The lectureship is for the duration of remaining specialty training, i.e. up to 5 years, and the postholder will spend 20% of their time developing a relev ant research programme. Research activities will be based in the University of Dundee’s Division of surgery at the Ninewells Hospital & Medical School site.
