Do you have a passion for learning and politics? Birkbeck, University of London, has an excellent opportunity for an Associate Lecturer to join the School of Social Sciences and teach part time this coming Spring term 2026.
As Associate Lecturer you will teach the module:
As Associate Lecturer, your role will be to deliver teaching (lectures) to Birkbeck students, in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully, and to undertake all related course administrative duties as required.
Your main responsibility will be preparation, teaching, administration and assessment (i.e. marking) of the Perspectives on Public Services and the Public Sector module, which is a Level 7 postgraduate module.
As Associate Lecturer, you will have proven knowledge in the field of public administration and public service organisation, ideally through your own PhD research, excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and enthuse students.
You will also be qualified to the corresponding level of the award as required to teach (or demonstrate equivalent professional/industry level experience).
The module will be taught using our ‘HyFlex’ technology that synchronizes learning in physical classrooms with online learning (training will be provided).

Salary:
Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £68.13 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
