The Role


We are looking for an individual with a PhD in law (or near completion) who shares our values and can contribute to the teaching of tort law and law and gender. An ability to teach criminal law is desirable. This is a 12-month fixed-term post (1 September 2025 to 29 Aug 2026) primarily to deliver replacement teaching, with the opportunity to develop your research/scholarship.

Key accountabilities:

  • Contribute to the delivery and as required the planning and design of modules
  • Design and deliver high-quality teaching and learning materials, resources and activities
  • Set, mark, and assess course work and examinations, providing timely and effective feedback to students in line with University policy, and utilise online and digitised curricula and education frameworks
  • Supervising undergraduate and taught postgraduate students as required
  • Mentor and support students throughout their studies in the role of personal tutor.
  • Operate as an active citizen in the Newcastle Law School community and wider University
  • Have a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and an understanding of how individual behaviour can contribute to a positive research and education culture
  • Undertake a range of administrative tasks to support your area of teaching, research and/or engagement
  • Undertake administrative duties as required by Head of School
