About the role
The Department of Education, in association with Somerville College, are seeking to appoint a full-time Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics. The appointment will be initially for five years at which point, upon completion of a successful review, the post-holder will be eligible for reappointment to the retiring age.
The Associate Professorship is available from September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment will be made in association with a non-tutorial fellowship at Somerville College, further details of the fellowship can be found in the job description.
The post holder will conduct internationally leading research on applied linguistics and education, including attracting funded projects in this area. The post holder will also contribute to the very successful MSc in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition programme (MSc ALSLA). You will develop and carry out high quality research, relevant to learning or teacher learning in of applied linguistics, drawing on this activity to inform all work related to the above programmes. You will be required to take on administrative and examining duties as requested by the department.
