Job Advert
Working Pattern: Full-time (35 hours per week)
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in supporting health and social science research in secure computing environments and will make a significant contribution in advancing secure data infrastructure and federation across the UK.
Data Connect and the Secure Data Services are joint services within the Research and Innovation IT team. Together they support and enable researchers in getting access to NHS and social care data safely and securely for academic research projects. They are strategically important services in the University that enable research that will directly impact on the quality and length of people's lives.
The University and its partners have been awarded funding by DARE UK to develop and deliver the mechanisms for federated governance for using NHS data in research across the Yorkshire and Humber region. The PANORAMA project will involve the adoption of the SATRE framework, creating and maintaining a shared repository of governance standards, documents and best practice.
The University of Sheffield is also leading on the Information Governance Interest Group and will create and maintain repositories of governance organisations, legal and ethical frameworks and other policies, paving the way for shared best practice across the UK, and help coordinate Public Involvement and Engagement (PIE) activities, including the organising of a UK-wide conference for the TRE Community in September 2025.
As Health Information Governance Officer, you will be instrumental in coordinating standard architectures and federated processes for the safe use of health data in research across the north of England. You will make a significant difference to enabling research that will impact the lives of people across the region. These projects will have a national profile.
The role requires an enthusiastic, motivated graduate in a health or related field who is interested in information governance and trusted research environments.
