Working tasks

  • Setup, support and further development of steady-state and time-domain experiments with a focus on time-of-flight measurements and defect spectroscopy
  • Planning and realisation of 1D–3D device simulations with OghmaNano and machine learning to analyse charge carrier dynamics and loss mechanisms of organic solar cells
  • Development and realisation of independent research in organic solar cells physics
  • Presentation of scientific results (publications, participation in conferences)

You will use your research results for scientific publications and personal qualification, as this position supports further scientific qualification.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Physics or a related field (completed or near completion)
  • Strong motivation for independent research and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Very good English communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Solid understanding of semiconductor physics
  • Interest in experiments on charge transport and defect spectroscopy in organic semiconductors and/or
  • Experience in drift-diffusion simulations and machine learning
  • Programming skills for experiment control and data analysis (e.g., Python, Igor Pro, C++)

What we offer

The Professorship of Optics and Photonics of Condensed Matter at the Chemnitz University of Technology is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join an interdisciplinary team working on organic solar cells. The position is funded by the DFG Research Unit “Printed & Stable Organic Photovoltaics from Non-fullerene Acceptors – POPULAR“ (FOR5387) and the DFG research grant “ChemDeTox”, focusing on chemical defects in organic semiconductors.

FOR5387 is a collaborative project involving: • University of Technology Chemnitz • University of Augsburg • University of Bayreuth • Technical University of Dresden • Friedrich-Alexander-

University Erlangen-Nuremberg • University of Heidelberg • University of Potsdam • University of Durham (UK)

Our research will focus on the fabrication and investigation of coated and printed efficient organic solar cells using a strongly interdisciplinary approach combining chemistry, materials science, physics, mathematics, and print technology.

Supervisors: Prof. Dr. Carsten Deibel (TU Chemnitz) and Prof. Dr. Roderick C. I. MacKenzie (University Durham, UK).
