Do you have a passion for learning and curating? Birkbeck, University of London, has an excellent opportunity for an Associate Lecturer to join the School of Historical Studies and teach part time this coming year 2025-26.
As Associate Lecturer you will teach the modules:
You will have detailed academic and practical knowledge of the institutional, historical, social, economic and political contexts of arts organisations and exhibition practices, and experience of research and teaching in this field. You should have teaching experience with the HE context, and professional experience in the field of curating.
These courses are run as one-week intensive modules: Curating online will run 9-13 February 2026. Collections Management in person will run 2-6 March 2026. Curating in person will run 16-20 March 2026, between 10am and 6pm.
You will have specialist knowledge of curating and collections management, enabling you both to work within and develop our established teaching and research programmes. You should have teaching experience with the HE context, and professional experience in the areas of curating and collections management.

Remuneration
Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £68.13 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
