Main duties and responsibilities

This is a professional role, and the successful applicant will play a key role in contributing to the project and programme management activities of the research project. You will be working as part of a wider research team to support the successful delivery of an externally funded project focused on estimating the economic impacts of mental health issues caused by groundwater flooding. You will assist the project team in achieving key milestones and attend meetings as required. Your role will involve handling project data and metadata collection, supporting analysis and reporting activities, and contributing to the planning and organisation of subsequent project phases.

Skill and experience required

The appointee will have demonstrable experience in research project management, such as experience gained through undergraduate-level work such as final year projects. Experience of working as part of a project team within a Higher Education Institution is required, along with a good understanding of relevant methodologies for effective project and programme management.

Ideally the postholder has supported research projects or programs related to disaster management, sustainability, computational science, or health economics. Strong IT skills are essential, particularly proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. The role also requires excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with fluency in both spoken and written English.

Applicants must be numerate and literate with accurate keyboard skills, and capable of collecting, processing, and reporting data clearly and confidently. The ability to manage tight deadlines, prioritise conflicting demands, and work accurately under pressure is essential. A methodical approach, attention to detail, and a high degree of professionalism and discretion when dealing with sensitive material are key requirements.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude toward problem solving, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Flexibility, adaptability, tact, and diplomacy are important attributes for this role.

Qualifications required

You will be educated with a minimum of an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification or higher qualification in project management or proven experience. A master’s degree or equivalent qualification or proven experience would be desirable for this role.
