Do you have a passion for psychology and teaching? Birkbeck, University of London, has an excellent opportunity for an Associate Lecturer to teach in 2025.
The School of Psychological Sciences is looking to recruit a part-time Associate Lecturer to teach on the module:
Your role will be to deliver teaching to Birkbeck students, in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully, and to undertake all related course administrative duties as required.
Your main responsibility will be preparation, teaching, administration and assessment of the Introduction to Developmental Psychology module, which is a Level 4 compulsory module of our BPS-accredited BSc Psychology programme.
The module covers: major theories of human development, including environmental and biological influences on development introduction to social, emotional, perceptual and cognitive development during infancy and childhood evaluating the findings from experimental, observational, longitudinal and survey research.
The course aims to: to provide an introduction to the main influences on social, emotional, perceptual and cognitive development during infancy and childhood, review of major theories of human development, evaluate the evidence from different research designs used in developmental psychology and to introduce students to both basic and applied perspectives on child development.
As an Associate Lecturer, you will have experience of lecturing to groups of up to around 50 students and be qualified to the corresponding level of the award as required to teach (or demonstrate equivalent professional/industry level experience).

Remuneration:
Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £68.13 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
