Associate Tutor in Psychology Study Skills

Are you a keen teacher of psychology study skills? Birkbeck, University of London, is looking for a part-time Associate Tutor to join the School of Psychological Sciences and help shape our future going forwards.

As Associate Tutor you will join the teaching team on the Certificate of Higher Education, BSc Foundation Year and BA Programmes for the following module:

• Psychology Study Skills, Level 4
• Teaching on six Saturday afternoons*

Your role will be to support teaching, in order to enable students to complete their studies successfully and undertake related course administrative duties as required.

Your main responsibility will be preparation and assisting with the studying skills focused seminar, teaching, and providing feedback on formative assessment on the Psychology Study Skills module. 

Most post-holders at this level will be employed as part of their general academic development and will undertake this work independently but in parallel with postgraduate studies.

In addition to the criteria specified in the job pack, requirements for selection are:

• A degree in Psychology.   
• Relevant teaching experience, working with adult students within the HE sector.
• A working knowledge of IT including Word, Excel, e-mail and experience of (or willingness to use) Moodle & Teams.     
• Particularly able to work both as part of a team and independently as appropriate.

Salary

Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £59.91 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked.

This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 6 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at  2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course. 

Contract
