Applications are invited for appointment as Non-Tenure track Assistant Professor in Buddhist Counselling in the Centre of Buddhist Studies (Ref.: 532111), to commence on September 1, 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a four-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.
The ideal candidate would have academic and/or professional experience in Buddhist counseling or areas related to Buddhist philosophy, psychology, methodologies and practices, and would be able to contribute to the innovative teaching profile and research orientation of the Masters of Buddhist Counselling programme. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent from a University with a strong international reputation in a field relevant to Buddhist Counselling, such as applied Buddhist Studies, clinical psychology, counselling, social work, or Buddhist Chaplaincy. They would ideally possess a minimum of three years of teaching experience at a recognized tertiary institution, preferably with experience in teaching courses in Buddhist counselling, Buddhist psychology, or contemplative studies. Preference will be given to applicants who have a track record of publications with leading publishers and journals, active membership in professional associations, and experience of community engagement and academic program development.
The appointee is expected to make a substantial contribution to the Centre's strategic development by fostering academic collaborations across disciplines; contributing to the University’s mission and community outreach; participating in the development of interdisciplinary research initiatives; and applying for competitive research grants. He/She is also expected to design undergraduate and graduate courses, excel in innovative teaching, attract and supervise international research students, and contribute to the effective operation of the Centre. The current teaching load is set at four courses per year.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary.
