About the role

This is an exciting time to be joining the University of Sussex. As we launch a new strategy later this year, our market research team will be at the forefront of enabling professional and academic staff to achieve the goals laid out in that vision.

With a new brand incoming, and a committed, sustained investment in marketing and reputation from senior leadership, this role will be pivotal in supporting marketing, recruitment and admissions to reach and attract potential students. Tracking our visibility in the market, benchmarking our performance against competitors, and supporting the teams to understand and interpret third party insights – you will keep our tams equipped with the insights they need to achieve their goals.

You will work with academic colleagues to identify opportunities for portfolio expansion or improvement, ensure our courses and offer are in line with market demand, and that our events and experience days are best in class.

You will join a team of approximately 25 experienced HE marketers, with one other market research manager, in a large Communications, Engagement and Advancement Division within the University. In addition to divisional colleagues, you will closely with Executive Deans, Strategy and Planning, and Academic Quality and Partnerships.

About you

You will be an experienced market research professional with a passion for translating data into actionable insights. You will have a thorough and specialist (relevant degree or work experience qualification) understanding in quantitative and qualitative research.

Large and complex data sets make you happy, and you will be skilled at briefing and providing influential recommendation to senior and academic colleagues.

You will be comfortable working in a marketing setting, with good experience in marketing or sales teams. Higher Education experience is preferable, but not essential, as long as you have other relevant experience in a similarly complex organisation.

Working knowledge of Snap Survey, Cognos and/ or Power BI would be an advantage too.
