Research Fellow (Behavioural Insights - INNOVATE)

The Opportunity:

You will use a variety of analytical methods and coding techniques, including social computational approaches, to analyse how emotional and identity-based narratives and visuals have been used to frame and reframe Europe and the European Union as a political entity, and to communicate its role to the public, over time.

This post is fixed-term from 1 November 2025 to 26 September 2026.

This post is part-time (21 hours per week).  As this post is lab-based it requires on-campus working. 

The salary for this post is at Grade UE07: £40,497 to £48,149 per annum, pro-rata as part-time.

Your skills and attributes for success: 

• A PhD (or equivalent training and work experience) in a relevant social science with training or skills relevant to the project on the neurophysiology of European identity. 
• Demonstrable research experience, particularly critical engagement in conceptual and theoretical work on argumentation, identity and the role of a sense of belonging in political groups and regimes.  
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, supported by good IT skills, and ability to adapt to digital research methods as required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including a collaborative, collegiate approach, and the ability to establish and maintain personal working relationships with colleagues.
