An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced veterinary surgeon (MRCVS) with a passion for inspiring undergraduate students in all aspects of small animal medicine. Experienced clinicians who wish to move into education and develop their teaching expertise within a multidisciplinary department are encouraged to apply.

The role

The primary focus of the role will be to support the clinical teaching in years three and four, preparing our students for their final year rotations. The role involves practical teaching, lectures and tutorials. There may be a requirement to travel to our offsite partners.

About you

A teaching qualification is not essential but prior experience of teaching veterinary undergraduates would be an advantage. Support to complete a postgraduate certificate in education will be given to successful candidates. Those with extensive experience of supporting new graduates in practice are also encouraged to apply.

Enthusiasm, adaptability and creativity are essential, alongside excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

What we can offer

In return we offer a generous salary with a 10% salary uplift for MRCVS registered applicants, pension, relocation assistance, flexible working options including job share, access to world-class leisure facilities on campus, a range of travel schemes and supportive family friendly benefits including an excellent on-site nursery.

We will consider applications from those interested in both full time and part time opportunities.

Further information

Please apply by uploading a CV and a covering letter outlining your motivation for the role and why you would be a good fit. You will also be asked some brief questions to help us understand your suitability for the position.

For more information, please email Dr Rebecca Lewis (Head of Department, Veterinary Clinical Sciences): Rebecca.Lewis@surrey.ac.uk.

The University of Surrey is committed to providing an inclusive environment that offers equal opportunities for all. We value everyone in our community and are seeking to increase the diversity. Therefore, we particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups, such as people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and people with disabilities.

Induction Commitment

We wish to create the conditions for success for our new starters in the Vet School, by facilitating their growth and development within our institution. All new starters who are on a local/Guildford contract are expected to be physically present on campus for 80% minimum of their working week during their initial four to six months of employment (the duration will vary depending on individual role).
