Company description:
We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
Job description:
Newcastle Law School seeks to appoint a Professor of Law to join our forward thinking, inclusive Russell Group Law School that seeks to embed its values in all that it does: Challenge; Social Justice; Compassion; Wellbeing; Excellence; Responsibility; and Respect.
We are open to a broad range of research specialisms and are seeking to appoint a passionate and experienced researcher who builds bridges across disciplines and who can see opportunities to work collaboratively with colleagues in the Law School, across other Schools, Faculties and Research Groups/NuCoRes at Newcastle University and with external collaborators. This open Chair position could allow us to appoint in areas such as international economic/trade law, data protection law, comparative legal systems, socio-legal studies, private law or other complementary fields where there is potential to enhance the societal relevance of Newcastle Law School's expertise, research and impact, and educational offering to our students.
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate an excellent international research profile, demonstrable experience in academic leadership, a track record of external grant capture and/or impact and a commitment to collegiality, inclusivity and the development of early career researchers. They will be committed to delivering excellent and innovative teaching and be motivated to provide the very best experience for students at all levels of study including supporting the next generation of researchers through postgraduate supervision.

Newcastle Law School is a globally connected, locally rooted and compassionate community. We embrace diversity and advance social justice by addressing contemporary and future challenges through our research, our scholarship, our engagement with partners, and as a lasting impact of our legal education. We want to appoint someone who shares these values, and who will work with us to realise them across all our areas of activity. We are particularly interested in the strengths and lived experiences of researchers from different ethnic groups and cultures to broaden the diversity of Newcastle Law School, as we strive to avoid perpetuating biases and oversights in legal research and legal education.
