The University of Southampton has Research and knowledge Exchange and Enterprise as two key strands of its year strategy. These activities contribute to everything we do, from our innovative teaching methods to our growing portfolio of spin-out companies and enabling the development of products and services of benefit to our region, business and the global economy.
Research and Innovation Services (RIS) provides expert advice and assistance in research funding, bid support and management, collaboration with industry and other strategic partners as well as the protection and commercialisation of intellectual property. We are proud of our immensely talented team that shares an open mindset and genuine ambition to contribute to enhancing the University’s research output and impact. At Southampton we offer a significant range of training and learning opportunities to help you maximise your skills and potential.
We are recruiting a Departmental Coordinator to provide high-quality administrative support, develop and maintain knowledge of our processes and practices to ensure we continue to run smoothly, organise meetings and events, including with our funders and partners, and manage the office environment ensuring health and safety regulations are met. This is a critical post for us, at the very heart of the RIS team.
You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task and to work well as part of a busy team. You will be a self-starter and enjoy the challenge of making things happen in a fast-moving environment. You will have strong office experience in a customer-focused environment. Experience of working in a research support capacity within the higher education sector would be advantageous.
Our vision and mission at the University of Southampton is to have a community where staff and students feel welcome, supported and valued. This environment fosters a culture of inclusion, respect and equality of opportunity, encouraging applicants from diverse backgrounds, with the belief that excellence will be achieved through recognising the value of every individual.
