The University is looking to appoint a part time Specialist in Music and Screen to support the management of technical provision in the School of The Arts. The School is made up of three subject areas: Drama, Music, and Screen. This post will support the Music and Screen subject teams although the successful candidate may be expected to work across the School of the Arts. The role holder will be involved in operating the Loan Centre and its database of equipment, maintaining and checking equipment, cleaning of studio technical apparatus and basic maintenance, as well as setting up sessions for teaching and research purposes. The role holder will also be expected to deliver workshops for students in the music and film studios around operational practice.
The school is extremely well resourced with a total of a ten recording, mixing, composition, ambisonic, a film and tv studio, rehearsal studios, and a media hub with 4 labs. The main performance space is the £9.5 million re-designed Middleton Hall auditorium which hosts a range of internal and external events. The hall is equipped with flexible acoustics and lightning, sound, and vision control rooms. Equipment in the School includes a range of consoles by Solid State Logic (Duality, AWS 924, AWS 948), Avid, and Midas desks. In addition, there is a large microphone stock including Neumann, Schoeps, AKG, Shure, Coles, Soundfield, and Telinga.
