Background
Information Technology (IT) provides technology and digital services to the staff and students, including front-line support services, infrastructure, applications, and project delivery. The Information Security Analyst is a critical role for supporting the development and delivery of the University’s corporate security vision.
The program of work planned, is to assure that information created, acquired or maintained by the University and its authorized users, is used in accordance with its intended purpose; to protect University information from external and internal threats and to assure that the University complies with statutory and regulatory requirements regarding information access, security and privacy.
Responsibilities
The Information Security Analyst will be involved with operational and improvement projects across the University to protect information assets and manage information security risks.
The role will also support the development and delivery of measures and metrics to support the assessment, reporting and ongoing improvement of the University’s security posture.
Working closely with key stakeholders to keep abreast of planned changes to technology stacks, working practices, and business activities that could have an impact on group and individual university Information Security or risk profiles.
The role will be pivotal in supporting the development, auditing, documenting and embedding secure data access policies, processes and procedures. Ensuring that IT and Digital Services have robust risk management, threat detection, prevention and recovery processes by developing strategies for implementation aligned with industry best practice and evolving technology trends.
Person Specification
We are seeking an inspirational and people focused analyst with data protection/assurance experience preferably in educational institutions or similarly sized organisation. The role holder will have experience of tracking and managing both internal and external Information Security audits and risk assessments.
Good knowledge and understanding of sector, national and cyber challenges; as well as a strong working knowledge of all elements of information security and be able to work with, and positively influence operational IT teams across the group.
Additionally, strong stakeholder management, outstanding communication, planning, and delivery skills are required. Experience of working in higher education is advantageous.
