Head of Faculty - Technology, Design, and Creative Arts

De Montfort University Dubai is seeking a visionary, experienced, and strategic academic leader to join our senior team as Head of Faculty – Technology, Design, and Creative Arts. This leadership role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of a multidisciplinary and creatively-driven faculty that spans subjects including architecture, design, arts, and emerging creative technologies.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the academic and strategic direction of the faculty, driving innovation in teaching, research, and enterprise while ensuring alignment with the standards and vision of DMU Leicester. Working closely with faculty colleagues, subject leads, and senior campus leadership, the role holder will champion academic excellence and contribute meaningfully to the student experience, faculty growth, and international profile of DMU Dubai.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic and academic leadership across all subject areas within the Faculty of Technology, Design, and Creative Arts
• Lead faculty operations including recruitment, performance management, resource planning, and professional development of academic teams
• Ensure delivery of high-quality UG and PG programmes, working closely with DMU Leicester counterparts and adhering to UK HE quality standards
• Champion excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment while promoting innovation and inclusive academic practices
• Oversee curriculum development, programme enhancement, and academic compliance, including KHDA regulatory requirements
• Serve as an ambassador for the faculty internally and externally, building partnerships and contributing to institutional visibility in Dubai and internationally
• Engage in and support research, scholarly activity, and enterprise initiatives within the faculty and across the wider university
• Chair faculty meetings and contribute actively to strategic planning committees and academic governance

Candidate Requirements:
Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (Essential)
• PhD in a related discipline (Desirable)
• Recognised teaching qualification or professional recognition (e.g., HEA fellowship) (Essential)
• All academic qualifications must be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) or eligible for attestation
• Candidates must also be eligible or willing to obtain UAE Ministry of Education equivalency

Experience:

• A minimum of 8–10 years in higher education, including 3–5 years in a leadership or academic management role (Essential)
• Demonstrated experience leading academic departments or faculties, ideally in a UK or UK-aligned higher education setting
• Proven ability to manage academic teams, drive curriculum innovation, and enhance student progression and satisfaction
• Track record of contributing to research, scholarship, or professional practice in a relevant creative or design-related field
• Experience with regulatory bodies such as KHDA or equivalent (Desirable)
