About the role
You will support the development of TEL tools and strategies to be embedded within the new curriculum, launching in 2026. You will be expected to use initiative and creativity in your teaching to develop your expertise. This will involve developing new teaching and assessment practices, using appropriate learning technologies and/or developing systematic methods for evaluating and disseminating these.
You will work alongside colleagues from the School of Medicine Education Centre to develop and support the delivery of centralised TEL resources related to clinical components of the curriculum. This includes supporting students in early years (such as the use of simulation for clinical skills) and those on clinical placements. Your responsibilities will include the development and delivery of TEL solutions across different platforms and environments. Additionally, you will support clinical supervisors within NHS Trusts to incorporate TEL into student training.
As the TEL Education Fellow, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our institution's commitment to cutting-edge simulation education and immersive technology integration within an educational context.
This role is offered as a one-year fixed-term contract. Whilst there is no formal provision for postgraduate studies in medical education, CPD time may be negotiated to complete a relevant postgraduate course where appropriate.
About you
Applicants should have an MBBS or equivalent, and be GMC registered with licence to practice.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clarity on complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers, using high level skills and a range of media; have high level analytical capability to facilitate conceptual thinking, innovation, and creativity; have the ability to engage and retain the interest and enthusiasm of students and inspire them to learn; understands the importance of information technology; and experience of adapting & working with NHS Trusts to deliver improved patient care.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate their understanding of key concepts in undergraduate and postgraduate education; have experience in an undergraduate and postgraduate educational setting; have knowledge of teaching methods and techniques; and practical experience of application of teaching skills and techniques.
