UCL Translational Research Office (TRO)
The Translational Research Office (TRO) builds on an increasingly vibrant translational culture across the Faculties of Life and Medical Sciences (LMS) and the wider university community by providing integrated support for translational research and industrial partnerships.
UCL TRO is an expert team of applied scientists and business developers, we support researchers in realising their translational ambition by offering strategic advice, funding support, and bridging the gap with industry to help establish collaborations that drive the pipeline of therapeutic, device and diagnostic innovations.
Through working closely with a broad spectrum of investigators, industry partners and external funding bodies the TRO facilitates the translation of UCL’s emerging research into therapies, techniques and medical products with therapeutic value.
Translational Research Group (TRG)
Working closely with the lead academic and project team, the TRG uses processes, knowledge and experience to formulate the project plan for the application, monitor and control the project to ensure it remains in scope and resolve issues that may occur. The TRG group capabilities also include the provision of regulatory advice and ability to connect researchers with appropriate internal resources and external expertise.
The TRG provides practical, tailored support to UCL researchers wishing to navigate the translational pathway for their project.
Providing supportive project management in this way assists researchers in developing a translational strategy and de-risks projects making them more attractive to translational funding and industry investment for NHS adoption.
About the role
The Translational Research Group (TRG) is responsible for developing and managing UCL’s translational research projects.
The main activities of the Senior Translational Research Manager (STRM) fall into three broad work-streams:
