Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Research Data & Systems Engineer to join the Integrative Cancer Epidemiology Team (led by Prof. Montserrat Garcia-Closas) and Clinical Cancer Epidemiology Team (led by Prof. Amy Berrington) at the ICR Division of Genetics and Epidemiology. The role focuses on supporting research from the Generations Study, a national cohort of over 110,000 UK women.
You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team using epidemiological and real-world data to understand cancer causes and prevention. This position involves managing the study’s infrastructure, improving system operations, and ensuring efficient processing of multi-source data.
About You
You will hold a Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred) in computer science, data science, software engineering, or a related field. You should enjoy working in a collaborative environment with epidemiologists, biologists, statisticians, and operational staff. The role is based on ICR’s Sutton campus.
About the Division
The Division of Genetics and Epidemiology is internationally recognised for its work in understanding genetic and environmental causes of cancer. Our teams collaborate widely through national and international research consortia.
The Integrative Epidemiology Team focuses on analysing large-scale epidemiological data to investigate cancer risk and improve prevention.
The Clinical Epidemiology Team studies long-term treatment effects, cancer survival, and risks from medications using real-world data.
The Generations Study includes blood samples, questionnaires, genetic data, hormone levels, mammography and tissue images, and linked medical records. It supports a wide range of cancer research initiatives.
We are also part of the Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Research Unit, a joint initiative between ICR and Imperial College London, promoting collaborative research and training.
