We are seeking a Research Associate to join Lancaster Medical School and work on the “FeetSee” project funded through a project grant from the Next Generation EU Programme: Implementation of the Feetsee project evaluated by the European Horizon Programme, EIC Accelerator Instrument" Grant Reference no.: 10-036-T-0004.

The “FeetSee” project is focussed on generating prospective foot temperature data to test the current algorithm and inform development of future algorithm refinements aimed at supporting diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) prevention through identification of temperature differences of >2.2°C on respective areas of opposite feet. These data and the algorithm generated will inform the scientific underpinning for the development of the FeetSee health technology.  

You will coordinate day-to-day study operation including working with the project team to identify persons with diabetes and previous DFU and will instruct the study participants how to use the FeetSee device. The post holder will also aid the study participants with the purpose of supporting device use, trouble-shooting any technical issues etc. Additionally, the study researcher will be required to assist patients in completing the FeetSee acceptability questionnaire along with a brief, semi-structured interview on the perceived barriers and/or advantages of using the device and to enter these data to REDCap system (a secure open-access system for managing research data).

You will be based in the Medical School at Lancaster University but will work closely with the project team at the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and other hospital trusts involved in the study, contribute to data analysis, presentation of results and scientific dissemination.

Candidates will have either an MSc or a PhD in research methodology, the allied health professions or similar relevant discipline. Candidates will have experience of using Redcap or similar systems in processing clinical/patient reported outcome/smart wearables data.
