Birkbeck, University of London, has an excellent opportunity for an Associate Tutor to join Birkbeck's Business School and support the team this coming academic year 2025/26.
As Associate Tutor you would support the module:
This post offers the opportunity to contribute to an engaging undergraduate module in Birkbeck Business School at Birkbeck, University of London. Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Finance I is a first-year module for students enrolled on several of our Economics and Finance programmes.
The module introduces mathematics and statistics for students in the subjects of Economics and Finance, offering students foundational knowledge, key concepts, and applications.
Topics include algebra; equations and linear functions; quadratic equations and functions; non-linear functions; systems of linear equations; logarithms and exponents; descriptive statistics; probability; sampling distributions; confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. The content draws upon academic literature and real-world examples to support critical engagement and practical understanding.
The appointed individual should possess sound knowledge of maths and statistics for Economics and Finance, and a commitment to student learning and academic development.
The module is delivered through a combination of lectures and weekly in-person classes. The lectures and reading materials are already in place; while there is scope to revise and enrich them, this is not a requirement. The primary responsibility of the postholder will be to lead the weekly in-person sessions, which are designed to be interactive rather than lecture-based, incorporating exercises and problem solving.
The role also involves the marking of assignments. The Module Convenor, named in this advertisement as the key contact, will oversee the modules and provide ongoing support to the person appointed.
This is your chance to be part of a dynamic School at Birkbeck, situated in the heart of London's historic Bloomsbury area, so apply with us today.
