About the role 

Open Research Services Librarian (18.5 hours per week)  

This is a new post in Open Research Services, with a focus on support for research data management, along with general support for open research.  

Key tasks include:  

  • Providing guidance to research staff and Post-Graduate Research students on research data preservation and sharing, and the deposit of research data sets to the UWE Bristol Research Data Repository  
  • Day-to-day administration of the UWe Bristol Research Data Repository.  
  • Developing and delivering training sessions to researchers and PGR students.   
  • Reporting on compliance with various open access policies including UK Research and Innovation, and the Research Excellence Framework.  

Additionally, you will contribute to the development of support for Open Access Research Outputs at UWE Bristol, for example this might include offering guidance to researchers in making their work open access via the UWE Bristol Research Repository and uploading metadata.  

Communication and collaborative work are key to this post. Examples could include:  

  • Working with other colleagues in the team on projects that enhance our services and contribute to system improvements
  • Contributing to sector wide special interest networks that support the development of research data preservation. 
  • Working with other professional service colleagues, and academic staff, on the development of support for research data management. 
  • Working across Discovery and Resourcing to enhance the support and delivery of open research services at UWE.  

About you   

  • Have excellent IT skills and aptitude and be willing to learn about repository software such as ePrints and WorkTribe, or have experience of this.  
  • Be able to demonstrate some understanding of open research practice and support, and how open research is affecting library provision.  
  • Have practical experience of developing and delivering guidance and/or training for students and staff.  
  • Enjoy working as part of a team 
  • Build good working relationships with library colleagues and other stakeholders  

You will have a professional qualification in a library/information related subject or be within 6 months of being awarded your PG Diploma.
