The Department is known for its combination of both academic and professional training in politics and international relations with a focus on the Global South (Africa, Asia, and the Middle East). Our MSc programme in Politics and International Relations is associated with a high-powered approach to professional networking via intensive Study Tours in Africa and Asia (South Asia, East Asia, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia). Our MA programme in International Studies and Diplomacy is widely recognised for its distinctive approach to policy-oriented postgraduate training, with a global focus that also covers the role of the US, Europe, and multilateral institutions in partnership with emerging powers. Preparation for careers in international affairs has long been a key strength of the Department.
