About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Project Coordinator to join the Wastewater Surveillance for Pandemic Prevention (WaSPP) consortium, based within the Vaccine Epidemiology Research Group (VERG). This initiative is at the forefront of global health efforts to develop scalable, cost-effective tools for early detection and prevention of future pandemics. Funded by the Gates Foundation and the Institute of Philanthropy, WaSPP aims to develop and implement wastewater surveillance techniques for detecting spillover infections and human transmission of viruses with pandemic potential. The consortium also focuses on capacity-building, methodological development, and software innovation, in collaboration with a network of global partners.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to global health research with a real world impact and this post will suit a candidate with excellent organisational and communication skills.

You will provide essential operational and logistical support to ensure the smooth functioning of consortium activities, working closely with the Senior Project Manager, VERG leadership, and international partners across Asia and Africa.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead on operational and logistical arrangements for the WaSPP conference for around 150 attendees to take place within the UK
  • Lead on operational and logistical arrangements for travel to partner sites, handling all expense claims in line with College policy.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all consortium activities.
  • Support day-to-day financial aspects of the Hub, including raising purchase orders, setting up new suppliers, and working with Imperial’s Joint Research Office to provide financial information for reports to funders.
  • Support the Hub’s external communications, including assisting the Senior Project Manager in keeping the WaSPP website updated
  • Provide operational and logistical support for other activities led by VERG

  • Ability to show initiative and take decisions on routine matters, exercising judgment on when to refer issues to management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a high level of professionalism.
  • Experience in organising external meetings and events

What we can offer you

  • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to use science for humanity.
  • Benefit from a sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 39 days’ annual leave and generous pension schemes).
  • Access to a range of workplace benefits including a flexible working policy from day one, generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and cycle-to-work scheme.
