Love working with people? Passionate about supporting local communities to access culture in ways that work for them?
The University of Cambridge Museums (UCM) are looking for a Community Participation Coordinator to join the UCM Team until 31st March 2026. The role will coordinate the delivery of key community activities, working across the Collections with groups in the City of Cambridge and the region. There is also a chance for this role to participate in the rest of the UCM's Inclusion and Community programme identifying opportunities for extended engagement with participants, where appropriate.
The UCM Team works across the University collections, with audiences and with museums regionally, nationally and internationally. Our programmes support inclusive engagement for everyone - unlocking the University's collections, and the research which underpins them, for a larger and more diverse audience.
The Role
We're looking for someone with a commitment to making a difference to our communities; supporting everyone to access local culture in ways that work for them. To work with colleagues across our Collections, you'll need to be a natural team player with good self-motivation, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to communicate well with a range of people.
It is desirable that you have practical and demonstrable experience of working with a range of audiences, as well as community organisers, council and charity contacts, and an interest in socially engaged practice with a range of adults, children and young people in cultural settings.
Benefits of working at Cambridge University include:
We are open to flexible working arrangements. We welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working. This role involves in-person delivery across our collections and in a range of community settings, including working occasional evenings and weekends, with the opportunity for remote working at other times where appropriate.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2026 in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.
Applications are welcome from internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University. Applicants would need the support of their line manager and existing department to undertake this secondment.
