About the role

An exciting opportunity to be part of a pioneering biomedical research institute, dedicated to innovation and science in the laboratory of Samra Turajlic (Cancer Dynamics) in collaboration with Prof. George Kassiotis (Retroviral Immunology laboratory) is now available.

This project aims to identify dark genome antigens and TCR pairs mediating anti-tumour T cell responses in patiens with clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma (ccRCC) responding to immune checkpoint inhibitors (iCPi). This will be a 3-year funded position with the aim of developing novel TCR-T therapies in ccRCC.

We are seeking a web lab scientist with strong background in tumour immunology and immunotherapy, with hands on experience on in vitro T cell screenings, ideally high throughput.

You will be working in a multi-disciplinary lab of cancer evolutionary biologists, wet-lab scientists, computational biologists and translational research clinicians, and there is strong interaction with immunology and cancer groups within the Crick. The lab is now growing in its immunology expertise, which is why we are looking for a new Postdoctoral Fellow to join the team.

What you will be doing

As a Postdoctoral Fellow some of your main responsibilities will be:

  • To work within the Turajlic lab, and collaborating groups at Francis Crick Institute
  • To liaise and coordinate between the project collaborators, including dry and wet lab.
  • To understand tumour biology and immunobiology, and the relevant literature sufficiently to propose novel ideas.
  • To record all analyses in an accurate, timely and clearly presented manner, and use this to prepare data summaries and reports as and when required.
  • To attend, and report research results at regular group meetings.

About you

You will bring

  • PhD in tumour immunology or basic immunology
  • Excellent understanding of cancer immunology
  • Hands on experience with cell culture of patient derived primary immune cells (including T cells and B cell) and tumour cells.
  • In vitro workflows in immunology research.
  • Experience of T-cell reactivity screening is essential, specially high throughput antigen screens
