In this role, you’ll contribute to the delivery and development of our undergraduate law provision, focusing on academic excellence, real-world relevance, and employability. Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and workshops across core areas (e.g. Contract, Criminal, Constitutional, Tort, EU, Legal Systems).
- Embed practical skills: legal research, mooting, advocacy, drafting.
- Develop modules in line with QAA, OfS, and PSRB requirements.
- Promote student participation and academic progression through inclusive learning environments.
Assessment & Student Support
- Design, mark, and moderate assessments tied to practical and academic goals.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and academic mentoring.
- Act as a personal academic tutor, supporting student wellbeing and development.
Curriculum Development & Industry Focus
- Support the ongoing design and review of course content.
- Embed themes such as digital literacy, legal tech, and social justice.
- Reflect contemporary legal developments and professional practice.
Quality & Compliance
- Participate in quality assurance, annual reviews, and course evaluation.
- Maintain accurate records on student engagement and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g. SQE, Bar Standards, OfS).
Professional Development & Contribution
- Remain informed on legal developments and pedagogical best practices.
- Engage in scholarly activity or industry-informed research.
- Contribute to open days, outreach, and the academic life of the College.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Essential: Bachelor’s and Master’s in Law; PGCert or willingness to obtain
- Desirable: PhD in Law; Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
Experience
- Essential: Higher education teaching experience or a professional legal background
- Desirable: Knowledge of SQE reforms; awareness of legal contexts in esports/gaming
Technical Skills
- Essential: Strong digital skills, legal research ability, and effective communication
- Desirable: Familiarity with Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs), legal databases, or delivery with an employability focus
Teaching Skills
- Essential: Ability to create inclusive and engaging learning experiences
- Desirable: Experience developing legal education content or delivering practical legal simulations
