About the Role

As a Lecturer in Games Art, you’ll play a key role in designing and delivering undergraduate modules across:

  • Concept art and environment design
  • 2D and 3D asset creation
  • Game-ready workflows and pipelines
  • Character and technical art development

You’ll guide students through tools like Maya, 3DS Max, Blender, Photoshop, Adobe Substance Suite, and Unreal Engine, preparing them for real-world production and collaborative studio environments.

Start Date: “As soon as possible”

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver inclusive, engaging teaching across Games Art modules
  • Supervise student projects and provide portfolio feedback
  • Co-develop curriculum and module content aligned with industry trends
  • Participate in assessment, moderation, and academic quality assurance
  • Support student events, exhibitions, and guest speaker sessions
  • Embrace digital education best practices including safeguarding and accessibility
  • Champion inclusion, widening participation, and learner success

Person Specification (Essential/Desirable: 'E'/'D')

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's & Master’s in Games Art, Digital Art, or related field; PGCert or willingness to obtain (E)
  • PhD; Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) (D)

Experience

  • HE teaching or significant industry experience; strong grasp of 2D/3D game art workflows (E)
  • Studio/freelance experience; technical art understanding; involvement in game jams or reviews (D)

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Blender, Maya/3DS Max, ZBrush, Adobe Suite, Photoshop; knowledge of Unreal Engine 5 (E)

Teaching Skills

  • Capable of designing accessible, engaging learning materials; strong interpersonal and feedback skills (E)
  • Understanding of safeguarding, data compliance, and inclusive digital delivery (D)

Professionalism

  • Student-focused, collaborative, committed to creative innovation and academic excellence (E)
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with coders, producers, or designers (D)
