Queen Mary Students’ Union represents and supports over 30,000 students and 4,500 staff at Queen Mary University of London. Our services and programmes help create an inclusive and vibrant student experience, with sport and physical activity playing a vital role in promoting wellbeing, engagement, and community impact.
We are looking for a proactive and strategic Community and Performance Sport Coordinator to support QMSU’s elite athlete and community sport development. You will coordinate the Performance Sport Programme and manage the award-winning Sport Employability Academy (SEA), ensuring student-athletes and volunteers are supported to achieve personal, academic, and professional success through sport.
The role involves coordinating performance sport services, developing strategic community partnerships, and overseeing high-impact volunteering initiatives that use sport as a tool for social change. You will support student sport development, coach engagement, CPD delivery, and impact evaluation.
You will need strong experience in sport development, performance athlete support, or volunteering programme coordination. A passion for student wellbeing, equality, and personal development is essential. Excellent communication and organisational skills, along with an ability to build partnerships across sectors, will ensure success in delivering meaningful sport experiences and long-term community benefit.
The post is full-time and has a starting salary will be in the range £32,804 to £35,223 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefits pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan and membership of the Sport and Fitness Centre.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
