ABOUT THE ROLE

To lead and support the effective use of digital learning technologies within TEDI-London, working collaboratively with academic, technical, and professional services colleagues. The postholder will contribute to the development, delivery, and evaluation of innovative, inclusive, and research-informed learning experiences, aligned with the department’s pedagogical approach and strategic goals.

You will share our enthusiasm for blended and online learning and our belief that this can complement a student led and immersive pedagogy in which hands-on learning through real-world projects is a dominant feature. You will be keen to try new things and not be afraid to learn from the experience – building high quality engineering-focused learning experiences by leveraging digital tools, virtual learning environments (VLEs), AI, and blended learning approaches that align with TEDI-London’s industry-facing ethos and pedagogical values.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and hands-on support to academic staff in the development of digital and experiential learning materials tailored to STEM-based subjects.
  • Collaborate with subject specialists to co-create and maintain engaging digital learning environments, online resources, and accessible blended learning experiences.
  • Audit and review the use of technology-enhanced learning, identifying opportunities to improve student experience, retention, and engagement.
  • Lead training sessions, workshops, and one-to-one support for academic teams on using digital tools, VLEs, and digital platforms effectively.
  • Translate technical information into clear, practical guidance to support all levels of digital confidence among staff.
  • Troubleshoot technical and pedagogical challenges with online learning platforms in partnership with IT and academic support teams.
  • Monitor emerging trends in digital learning, STEM education technology, and pedagogical theory to inform institutional practice.
  • Collaborate on institutional projects aimed at enhancing the digital learning capabilities, including online resource libraries, AI tools, and teaching enhancements.
  • Support the development and implementation of policies and initiatives related to digital education and online delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to GDPR, health and safety, equality, and safeguarding policies
  • Manage our Graduate Developer and additional junior staff as required.

ABOUT YOU

  Person Specification Essential

  • Expertise in designing and delivering engaging digital learning experiences, particularly in STEM-based disciplines.
  • Deep understanding of VLE platforms (e.g. Canvas) and other digital tools (e.g. Padlet, Miro, etc.).
  • Ability to support diverse learning styles and promote inclusive digital education.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to train, coach, and mentor colleagues across a range of digital proficiencies.
  • Strong collaborative and project management skills.
  • Significant experience working in a digital learning or learning technologist role within Higher Education.
  • Proven track record of supporting academic staff in the integration of digital tools into teaching and learning.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, vibrant environment.

Desirable

  • Awareness of current pedagogical theories including experiential, flipped, and blended learning models.
  • Awareness of the specific needs and challenges of engineering students in digital and blended learning environments.
  • A collaborative approach combined with excellent team working skills, within and across other disciplines and functions.
  • Involvement in pedagogic research, knowledge exchange, or professional communities related to digital learning and engineering education.
  • Experience leading or contributing to institution-wide digital learning strategies or innovations.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong educational background (degree level, Masters desirable), preferably in the fields of Computing/IT and/or Education and/or Engineering.

Desirable

  • PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Fellowship (or higher) of Advance HE

Hours of work and location

  • Typically 40 hours per week with some flexibility depending on business needs. We actively encourage agile/flexible working in line with the delivery requirements of each of our roles.
  • This role requires attendance at our Canada Water Campus at least 3 days a week.
