About the role
We are seeking to appoint a part-time maternity cover Lecturer (Teaching) in Ethnographic and Documentary Film (0.4 FTE) with outstanding practice-based research and teaching experience in non-fiction filmmaking. You will be an active filmmaker with a strong interest in ‘authored’ approaches that push the boundaries of non-fiction as an art form and be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of how non-fiction film engages with the discipline of Anthropology.
This role will be available from the start of September 2025, until the end of April 2026 and will be based at our UCL East campus in Stratford.
For informal enquiries, please get in touch with Dieter Deswarte d.deswarte@ucl.ac.uk.

About you
You will be educated to at least a bachelor’s level and possess extensive, up-to-date experience in non-fiction filmmaking, with a deep understanding of the field, a strong industry track record, and a proven ability to create innovative, author-led work. You will have proven ability and demonstrable expertise in teaching non-fiction film, including practical camera skills, combined with the experience of marking assessments, including film-based assessments and giving constructive feedback to students in writing and person.
