About the role
We welcome applications for a permanent, full time (1 FTE) Assistant Professor in Anthropology (Education and Research) to join our collegial and supportive team.
The successful candidate will join a friendly and supportive department with a significant record of world-leading research across the discipline. In this role you will be working as part of a dynamic team of scholars in the Department of Anthropology.
Applications are welcome from candidates with a research expertise in any field of Social Anthropology complemented by a strong ethnographic focus. Regional specialism is open. Under the direction of the Head of Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Social Anthropology. You will also hold responsibility for a group of Academic Advisees; supervise undergraduate theses and master’s dissertations; and be responsible for other convened teaching and administrative contributions as directed by the Head of Department.
You will be expected to conduct and deliver high-quality research, engagement and impact work that complements the research of the Department.

About you
Ideally, you will have a PhD in Anthropology or a closely related field or be very near completing one.
Your research and teaching interests should have a strong grounding in ethnographic research and align with those of the Department. Interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and research are particularly welcome. Candidates are expected to either complement or expand the existing research strengths of the Department.
You will ideally have previous experience of teaching Social Anthropology at degree level and will be passionate about delivering high quality teaching and support to students.
You will be a collegiate individual with an enthusiasm to participate fully as an active and integral member of the Department.
