We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support ongoing research activities within our team. The successful candidate will work under the guidance and mentorship of senior researchers and will perform research necessary to fulfil the objectives of the Project Identification of therapeutic targets in MNX1-rearranged infant Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, externally sponsored by CCLG / Little Princess Trusts.

The successful candidate will combine 2 and 3D cell culture systems, gastruloids development, FACS drug screening and next-generation sequencing with investigation of patient samples, to identify and characterise targetable pathways in forms of infant leukaemia driven by the MNX1 oncogene (https://doi.org/10.1038/s41389-022-00426-2; https://doi.org/10.1042/BSR20220489). The post-holder will integrate within the Tosi Lab, and work under the joint scientific mentorship of Dr Sabrina Tosi (Dr Sabrina Tosi | Introduction | Brunel University London) and Dr Cristina Pina (Cristina (C) Pina MD PhD - Cristina (C) Pina MD PhD).

The successful candidate will have a BSc or an MSc/MRes/MPhil degree or equivalent in an appropriate Discipline suitable for PhD registration. Appropriate Disciplines include, but are not restricted to Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology and Genetics. Applicants with experience in pluripotent stem cell or primary cancer cell culture, and/or organoid systems are particularly encouraged to apply. Experience in next-generation sequencing analysis and FACS is desirable.

The Research Assistant will be encouraged to contribute ideas during team discussions and may support post-graduate students (MSc/MPhil/PhD) in their research activities, where appropriate. They will be responsible for maintaining accurate and complete physical and electronic records of their work and should be prepared to assist with the preparation of reports and presentations on project progress when needed.

In addition, the candidate will contribute to general laboratory upkeep and maintenance, demonstrating good scientific citizenship. Some experience with scientific writing is desirable, and the candidate should be comfortable communicating with both scientific and non-scientific audience, including patient and public groups.
