Project details:
Various dietary supplements have been shown to possess bioactive effects that could enhance health and wellbeing. However, few studies have examined longer-term intake of different supplements combinations on relevant markers.
Our project aims to examine effects of dietary supplements with anti-inflammatory and other bioactive effects on muscle and joint pain, alongside other aspects of health and wellbeing in middle aged women.
The successful candidate will join a thriving research department examining how nutrition can improve health, wellbeing, and exercise performance.
As this project is in collaboration with a commercial funder, there will be an expectation that the candidate engages with the company for updates and scientific discussions. They should therefore also have a passion for the commercial side of human nutrition.
Dr Tom Clifford is a Reader in Health and Exercise Nutrition. Tom’s main research expertise lies in the effects of dietary supplements on health, exercise performance, and exercise recovery. The project will also be co-supervised by Dr Lewis James and Dr Stephen Bailey.
