University of Bath - School of Management

Location: Bath
Salary: £30,805 to £37,174 Grade 6
Hours: Part Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 15th July 2025
Closes: 27th July 2025
Job Ref: KD12847

About the role:

The University of Bath, School of Management is ranked among the top UK business schools, with a renowned reputation for business education and international research.

We wish to appoint a Projects Officer to support our BSc Business degree programme’s Final Year Project scheme (0.6FTE, 3 days a week).

The post-holder is part of the School of Management’s Employability Team, taking responsibility for the BSc Business Final Year Projects (FYP) scheme. The team work together under the guidance of a Head of Employability.

The BSc Business degree incorporates two six-month periods of practical experience, thanks to which they enjoy an excellent reputation amongst graduate employers who are closely involved with the School in offering placements, projects, guest lectures and other forms of partnership. These organisational links are co-ordinated by a very well regarded Placements Office, which provides a high degree of support for both students and employing organisations.

During the final year of this four-year degree course, all students carry out a team “Final Year Project” (FYP) on behalf of an external sponsor. The sponsors range from multinationals to start-ups to NGOs and Charities. The project work takes place in Semester 2 of final year with the research carried out by a team of five or six students alongside their other studies. A final business report is then submitted to both the School and the client company, including a presentation given by the student team to the client which is shared with academic assessors. The scheme gives organisations the opportunity to have a high quality research project carried out by high calibre students who come from the UK and all around the world.

This is a busy and varied role involving daily communication with academic staff, students and current/potential project providers, so the post-holder will need to have excellent organisational skills, demonstrate a good use of initiative, and have the ability to multi-task and prioritise.

The degree attracts high-quality A-Level candidates who meet competitive entry standards (typical offer AAA). Around 90 per cent of graduates achieve Upper Second or First-Class degrees, and an excellent graduate employment record, with the number of graduates in full-time employment six months after graduation higher than the national average. The total number of students in each cohort is approximately 150.
