This is a full-time, fixed term appointment until 31 December 2026.
The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics is pleased to invite applications to the above post.
The Grantham Research Institute has an active policy analysis team that complements its highly regarded academic research programmes. We are looking for a Research Officer to work on economic, legal, and political challenges surrounding the integration of carbon dioxide removal methods into compliance carbon markets (e.g. The UK and EU ETS), focussing on developing new scenario based empirical modelling and tools. The successful candidate will work closely with the other members of the research and policy analysis team and the Policy and Communications Director and will play an active intellectual role in the life of the Institute.
Candidates should have a PhD (or close to completion) in environmental economics, climate policy, science and technology studies or closely related fields with experience applying econometric and statistical tools (STATA, R, or Python). They will have experience in modelling and researching carbon pricing and the functioning of emissions trading schemes (both theoretical and empirical analysis), as well as strong quantitative skills with the ability to produce high-quality policy analysis in a timely manner, including ability to analyse and research complex ideas and apply appropriate methodologies. Candidates should also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent written and oral English, with the ability to communicate with internal colleagues, collaborating institutes and external bodies as well excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas and technical issues to a range of different non-technical audience.
