Abertay University is an ambitious, pioneering and successful modern university which transforms the lives of its students, and supports the development of industry and society regionally, nationally and globally.
Abertay has a strong record of innovation in student experience, community engagement and in promoting social mobility through education. This is underpinned by a deep commitment to research and knowledge exchange, and an ongoing programme of investment in the University’s digital and physical infrastructure.
The Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences delivers programmes and applied research in the areas of food and drink, the built and natural environment, forensic and biomedical sciences, mental health nursing, sociology, counselling, psychology, and sport and exercise sciences. The faculty seeks to appoint a Psychology Lecturer within the Department of Sociological and Psychological Sciences.
Reporting to the Head of Department, you will provide excellent teaching to our students, developing and delivering teaching content and managing modules on our accredited programmes including research supervision. Your expertise and support for staff will contribute to the success and smooth running of our programmes, and continued excellence in teaching quality and personalised learning. Given our research-teaching linkages, and the content of our degree pathways, we are looking for an individual who would be able to teach biological, comparative and/or forensic psychology and whose research expertise speaks to one of our three research groupings in cognition, forensic psychology, and education/developmental psychology. Desirable candidates may sit at the intersection of these areas (e.g., applied cognitive psychology) or have a track record of working across disciplinary boundaries.
The role requires someone who can communicate psychological knowledge to a diverse student body in a variety of standard and innovative formats (assessment and delivery). You will be a collegiate team player committed to the success and development of our Department and our students, collaborating effectively across the team to share practice and meet targets across the teaching term.
