The MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS) is a biomedical research institute where scientists and clinicians collaborate to advance the understanding of biology and its application to medicine. LMS is one of three directly funded MRC research institutes and enjoys close links with our partners at Imperial College London and at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

About the role

Are you a scientist who thrives at the intersection of research and lab leadership? This hybrid role offers the opportunity to pursue cutting-edge science while shaping the day-to-day operations of a dynamic research lab. The candidate will have the opportunity to pursue their own research within the lab’s focus areas while helping maintain a productive and well-functioning lab environment. The role may also involve mentoring junior lab members and contributing to grant writing and protocol development.

About You

We’re looking for a curious and driven scientist to join the Developmental Epigenomics group. The group, led by Juanma Vaquerizas, explores how the genome is regulated during development and disease. You will need a PhD (or equivalent experience) and a strong research background in relevant techniques. You should have a solid conceptual understanding of genomics, gene regulation, developmental biology, and computational biology approaches. Experience in generating high-quality figures for publication is also essential.

*Additional allowances comprise a £1,000 lump sum Settlement Allowance plus a yearly Training Allowance of £850 in the first year, paid in monthly instalments. The Training Allowance increases to £1,300 in year two and £1,800 in the third year.
