Applications are invited to apply for a Research Nurse position within an established translational research programme headed by Dr Massimiliano di Pietro and Professor Rebecca Fitzgerald, focusing on patients with the pre-cancerous conditions of the upper GI tract with a goal to improve diagnosis and management of patients with cancer. The specific purpose of this role will be to support research studies being conducted by the team of Dr Massimiliano di Pietro and Professor Rebecca Fitzgerald OBE to find better ways of detecting oesophageal and gastric cancer at an earlier stage. Our team has a long track record of pioneering research in this area that has led to new tests, including the Cytosponge, and changes in guidelines that have been adopted nationally and internationally. We also work closely with colleagues in physics, surgery and medical genetics. The role is an active nursing role with direct patient contact with a particular emphasis on recruitment, sample collection, data entry and study co-ordination. The post holder will work within an established team of clinicians, researchers, research nurses and administrators.
The successful candidate should have significant post-registration clinical experience and previous research experience in commercial and/or non-commercial clinical trials. Previous study coordinator and endoscopy nurse experience is desirable.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
