This is a fixed term post for 12 months to cover maternity leave.
A fantastic opportunity to join the University of Southampton, who is a founding member of the Russell Group and an institution which has an international reputation for research and is one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities. We are seeking to appoint an Accountancy Assistant to work as part of a professional team within the Finance directorate. The Team is responsible for key aspects of research finance services across the University; the successful candidate will be part of a close-knit team where the emphasis is on supporting each other and providing an excellent service to our world-leading academics.
The role will ideally suit someone with an aptitude for finance; who is diligent, proactive and analytical. They will support research finance and administration following legal and financial guidelines to cost research applications, acceptance of new research awards, guidance and support, providing financial advice and communicating with academics and other professional services colleagues.
The successful candidate will be well organised, with good communication skills and self motivated to manage their own workload, prioritising tasks and working to deadlines. Comfortable with learning new IT systems, where you will use the University accounting and costing systems for which training will be provided. Candidates with prior accounting knowledge and experience will be preferrable and customer service skills are essential to the role.
This role will include hybrid working between Home and Highfield main campus with the expectations of two office days and would consider applications requesting part time working. Further details can be discussed at interview stage.
