Summer Research Internship with the Quill Project

About the role

The Quill Project focuses on the transcription and analysis of historical legislative records, aiming to provide a detailed and accessible digital representation of legislative processes. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the preservation and understanding of significant historical documents through digital means.

Key responsibilities

• Transcribing historical records related to the writing of India’s constitution in accordance with Quill's project-wide guidelines.
• Recording accurate metadata within the Quill platform as per established guidelines.
• Utilising the Quill platform to create digital timelines and link historical records to specific sessions.

Key details

Start date: As soon as practicable

Timescale: Six to eight weeks over the summer

Salary: £12.60 per hour (based on hours worked)

Conditions: Presentation of original documentation to establish your right to work in the UK

Reporting to: Annabel Harris, Digital Curator

Person specification

• Training in the use of research platforms.
• Familiarity with historical research, particularly in analysing government records in a political and legal context.
• Training in guidelines for recording metadata and producing transcriptions.
