We are seeking a skilled and motivated technician to join our Immersive Visualisation & Simulation Lab—a cutting-edge facility featuring a 360-degree Immersive Volume, a Volumetric Capture Stage, and a newly launched Virtual Production Studio. This role offers a unique opportunity to support both production and research activities in a dynamic, forward-thinking environment.
At Norwich, we are committed to transdisciplinary creativity, where traditional craftsmanship meets digital innovation. Our workshops and technical resources are designed to empower students to explore, experiment, and excel in their creative pursuits.
As part of our Production Technical Team, you will play a key role in supporting groundbreaking research, innovative teaching, and commercial projects. Working alongside our Senior Technician, you will help design and deliver technical workshops, provide training, and offer hands-on support to students and staff engaged in creative education.
We are looking for someone with a solid foundation in film production, motion capture, camera and lens tracking systems, studio lighting, rigging, and audio equipment. Ideally, you will have early career experience in a commercial studio setting, where you’ve supported audio-visual services and managed technical production equipment for film, television, or streaming content. You may have previously worked as a Facility or Studio Technician, Grip, or Runner.
In addition to practical experience, we value strong digital competency. You should be comfortable using digital platforms for communication, collaboration, and creative learning. Familiarity with 3D asset creation in Blender or Maya, and experience integrating those assets into game engines like Unity 3D or Unreal Engine, is essential.
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about working on innovative projects that present a variety of technical challenges. A passion for emerging technologies and a commitment to ongoing professional development are also important qualities for this role.
Ultimately, we want someone who is ready to take the next step in their career in immersive technologies—someone who thrives in a collaborative, creative environment and is excited to contribute to a team that values innovation and experimentation.
