Department
The Department of Psychology is seeking to recruit an Associate Lecturer, to provide maternity cover for 10 months, to support all aspects of teaching and learning in the Department but with a focus on teaching of Social Psychology.
Role
The main purpose of this role is to support teaching on the Department’s Postgraduate and Undergraduate programmes in Psychology as well as contribute to marking, supervise students and provide advice on study skills and learning problems. This will include holding lectures, lead seminars, tutorials and other forms of Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching as well as developing and applying innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students.
You should have postgraduate training in Psychology, experience of supervising students, of tutoring undergraduates and/or postgraduates in psychology, and of delivering lectures. Additionally, knowledge of issues related to teaching in higher education, such as assessment and feedback, are desirable. You will have a collaborative work ethos but also be able to work independently and prioritise your own workload. A part of the role will be teaching Social Psychology to advanced undergraduates focusing on identity and prejudice. Applications are particularly welcome from applicants with expertise in this area.
