Are you passionate about Research? Do you have experience in biotherapeutic protein production? If so, then we’d welcome and application from you.

The Research Associate will join a world-leading team at the University of Kent, working in close collaboration with a world-leading company in the area of biotherapeutic protein production, to develop, test and validate various approaches to the production of biotherapeutic proteins for clinical application. The role involves the planning and execution of laboratory experiments, interpretation of the data from these to design further experiments, dissemination of findings and translation of the findings into the partner company site and practice. The role offers the opportunity to work with leading scientists in the commercial environment. The role will ultimately look to develop new approaches to the manufacturing of biotherapeutic proteins, working on specific targets.

As Research Associate you can expect to be involved in:

  • Contributing to the design, execution and interpretation of experiments, ensuring alignment with the funding agreement work plan.
  • Conducting individual and collaborative research, gathering and analysing data to derive meaningful conclusions.
  • Publishing research findings in high quality peer reviewed journals and support in presenting results at conferences to share insights with the academic community.

What will you bring to the role?

  • A relevant PhD in biochemistry, biotechnology, related field or equivalent
  • Proven experience in conducting research projects, including data collection and analysis
  • Expertise in recombinant protein production in a suitable expression host, qRT-PCR, protein analysis, ELISA, gene expression, molecular biology
  • Demonstrated ability to write up research findings
  • Experience working collaboratively in a research or academic setting, contributing to joint projects and initiatives
