About the role:

This role sits within the Student Lifecycle Events & Engagement team which delivers on a range of projects and events aimed at enhancing the student experience at Welcome to King’s and Graduation. Whilst the post-holder will be expected to help with the delivery of Graduations events ‘on the day’ and will be expected to work closely with the team who look after Graduation, they will not be responsible for the planning of Graduation ceremonies.

Welcome to King’s supports over 16,000 students joining King’s College London each year. The post holder will help lead on the planning, preparation, organisation, and implementation of Welcome to King’s with the aim to provide a high-quality experience to new students. Working collaboratively with support services and faculties across the institution, the post holder will provide quality customer service for stakeholders, responding to enquiries competently and appropriately and continually seeking opportunities to enhance the student experience.

As a team, we are friendly and supportive and will value applications from those who will sign-up to our way of working. We support each other’s events and projects and collaboration is a key aspect of our team ethos. We offer a flexible working structure with core hours in place, and a mixture of remote working and together as a team in our central London offices. During peak periods (July-September and December-January) additional days in the office will be required as standard.

Please be prepared to work flexibly during delivery times and note that some events and activities take place outside of normal working hours on evenings and weekends and/or require early start times.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract. 

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), but we welcome applications from candidates seeking a flexible work pattern that covers our necessary service operating hours, 10am – 4pm.

About you: 

Essential criteria

  • Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include work in event management/coordination, or stakeholder management. Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications or other training.
  •  Knowledge of and enthusiasm for Higher Education and improving the student experience.
  •  Demonstrated proficiency in effective collaboration and using initiative to resolve problems with a focus on customer service.
  •  Ability to communicate with students and staff with excellent interpersonal customer service, communication and presentation skills.
  •  Experience of relationship building and stakeholder management with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and an ability to gain buy-in and influence others.
  •  Ability to prioritise effectively to successfully manage inflexible competing deadlines and to multitask with a high level of accuracy/attention to detail.
  •  Experience using and creating content for a range of communications channels to engage stakeholders.
  •  Experience working with large or complex events / projects.

Desirable criteria

  • An understanding of how the student body is becoming more diverse and what this means for the student experience.
  • Experience in administering and working with budgets
  • Management experience
