Pembroke College wishes to appoint a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in Biochemistry. The appointment will be from September 2025 for three years.
The BTP fellowship is intended to be held alongside another academic post and provides opportunities for an early career researcher to gain teaching experience, while also offering a significant financial contribution to their research. The successful candidate will work closely with Professor Andre Furger and Dr Kirsty McHugh, the college’s Fellows in Biochemistry, and contribute to developing and deepening the Biochemistry community in college. The Fellow will be expected to teach for two hours per week on average to undergraduates reading Biochemistry preferably in the topics: principles of biophysical methods, protein characterisation and structure. More information regarding the teaching duties can be provided on request. In addition to the tutorial teaching, the Fellow will be expected to contribute to open days and undergraduate admissions for Pembroke Biochemistry.
The successful candidate should have a doctorate and be actively engaged in research. Teaching experience, and a willingness to participate in administrative activities and the pastoral oversight of undergraduates, would be an advantage.
The stipend will be in the range of £5,523 - £6,103 per annum. This is a fixed term career development post aimed at offering an early career academic the opportunity to develop their research and gain experience in teaching and administration. Benefits include a research allowance of £285.17 per annum (at the discretion of the college) and two lunches or dinners when the college kitchens are open.
